Two awards have been given in Films in Development as part of the 29th edition of Cinélatino, Rencontres de Toulouse (17-26 March 2017):

 

> BRLAB AWARD

LOBA by Kiro Russo (Bolivia)

Every year the BrLab looks into the projects selected for Films in Development. The winner of the BrLab Award is invited to participate to the São Paulo workshop in November.

 

> FRENCH KISS STUDIO AWARD

EL AGENTE TOPO by Maite Alberdi (Chile)

French Kiss Studio offers 3.500 € of service provisions in its studio for the post-production of image and/or sound on the basis of the 2016-2017 prices (wages of technicians are not included).

Four awards have been given at the Gaumont Wilson on Friday, 24th of March 2017 as part of the 29th edition of Cinélatino, Rencontres de Toulouse (March 17-26, 2017):

 

FILMS IN PROGRESS TOULOUSE AWARD

LA NOVIA DEL DESIERTO by Cecilia Atán & Valeria Pivato (Argentina-Chile)

The jury has appreciated the quality of writing and poetry, carried by a delicate character performance.

 

It consists in post-production services offered by partnered companies, a grant aimed at post-production works and the promotion of the awarded film.

 

• Le CENTRE NATIONAL DU CINÉMA ET DE L’IMAGE ANIMÉE (CNC) will attribute a grant towards the completion of the project, which will cover post-production work in France up to 8000 €.
• MACTARI will offer services of sound mixing up to 15 000 € (technician not included).
• TITRA FILM gives the distributor or French sales company of the winning film a budget worth €3,000 (DCP creation and/or duplication, creation of Netflix/iTunes/Google Play package, etc.), in exchange for TITRAFILM handling the storage of the master DCP and master files.
• La CAISSE CENTRALE D’ACTIVITÉS SOCIALES DU PERSONNEL DES INDUSTRIES ÉLECTRIQUES ET GAZIÈRES (CCAS) will offer a five weeks residency in Paris to the winner towards the completion of the post-production or the promotion of the film in France.
• EAUX VIVES together with the business partners will coordinate the awarded film post-production that includes 4 weeks of followed post-production up to 8 600€.
• FIREFLY will provide free Firefly software suite to calibrate the awarded film.
• COMMUNE IMAGE Digital Laboratory supports Film in Progress and offers 10 days of calibration in projection room.

 

Furthermore, the jury has attributed an Exceptional Award:

 

EXCEPTIONAL AWARD IN INDUSTRY AND RESIDENCE

JAZMINES EN LÍDICE by Rubén Sierra Salles (Mexico-Venezuela)

The jury wanted to underline the promising talent of the director Rubén Sierra Salles.

 

> CINE + AWARD

LA NOVIA DEL DESIERTO by Cecilia Atán & Valeria Pivato (Argentina-Chile)

CINÉ + TV network guarantees to purchase the winning film for the amount of 15 000 euros and to broadcast it on its network. This sum will be given to the distributor on condition that this film will be commercially exhibited in French theatres within the first two years following the Films in Progress screening.

 

EUROPEAN DISTRIBUTORS AND EXHIBITORS AWARD

MARILYN by Martín Rodríguez Redondo (Argentina-Chile)

 

An incredibly accomplished film with a delicacy and a subtlety avoiding all kind of free demonstration and miserabilism. Marilyn gives a portrayal of a being under construction confronted to the inability to tell and to keep quiet.

 

• EUROPA DISTRIBUTION will promote the film to its 130 independent distributors network.
• La CONFÉDÉRATION INTERNATIONALE DES CINÉMAS D’ART ET D’ESSAI (CICAE) will systematically inform their 2 000 members about the film. This will make the distribution companies aware of this film and promote its circulation.
