Synopsis:

A funeral car cruises the streets of Medellín, while a young director tells the story of his past in this violent and conservative city. He remembers the pre-production of his first film, a B-movie with vampires. The young queer scene of Medellín is casted for the film, but the main protagonist dies of a heroin overdose at the age of 21, just like many friends of the director. Anhell69 explores the dreams, doubts and fears of an annihilated generation, and the struggle to carry on making cinema.

Visual concept:

Anhell69 is a neo noir hybrid documentary. It’s narrated by its director, Theo Montoya, who is also its central character. Different types of material are woven to unfold the narrative: archives, mise en scène and cinéma vérité. The film creates a ghostlike atmosphere, dark and colorful, as the director talks with his friends, both dead and alive, in a city that looks like a cemetery. The soundtrack will communicate the sadness, fears and hopes of his generation.
