Nudo mixteco

Three intertwined stories during the patron saint’s celebrations in San Mateo, a town in Oaxaca’s Mixteca region. Esteban, a migrant, returns after three years to discover that Chabela, his wife, is now with another man. Furious, he summons the locals to pass judgement on her at a meeting. María returns from her mother’s funeral only to be rejected by her father. Uncertain and hurt, she asks Piedad, her childhood lesbian girlfriend, to leave with her. Toña relives her own pain when her daughter is sexually abused and returns to confront her family to protect the girl.

Ángeles Cruz

A Ñuu Savi woman (Mexico) who acted in more than 20 feature films. Her foray into film directing began in 2012 with the short film Tiricia or how to cure sadness. In 2013 La Carta and Arcángel in 2018. Her debut film Nudo mixteco premiered in 2021. Her movies have been recognized and awarded both nationally and internationally. Her second feature film Valentina or Serenity has been shot and is now in post_production.
