Temporada

Juliana is moving from Itaúna to the metropolitan town of Contagem to work as an agent on the combat against endemics in the region. On her new job, she meets people and lives unusual situations that starts changing her life. At the same time, she faces difficulties on the relationship with her husband, who is about to move as well to the big city.

André Novais Oliveira

Graduated in History at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais and in  Cinema at Escola Livre de Cinema in Belo Horizonte, André Novais Oliveira has directed the shorts Fantasmas, Pouco Mais de Um Mês and Quintal (the last two were selected  for Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight). He also directed the feature Ela Volta na Quinta,  Special Jury Prize in BAFICI 2015. He has been a partner in Filmes de Plástico production company since 2009, along with Gabriel Martins, Maurilio Martins and Thiago Macêdo Correia.

Production notes

Filmes de Plástico was created in 2009 by André Novais Oliveira, Gabriel Martins,  Maurilio Martins and Thiago Macêdo Correia. It specialized in independent  films build around complex characters, usually marginalized by society, proposing a more human  and possible portray of the periphery in Brazil. Its films were selected and awarded in  several film festivals, such as Cannes (three times at Directors’ Fortnight), IFFR,  FIDMarseille, BAFICI,  Durban, Melbourne, IndieLisboa and Clermont-Ferrand.
