Call for entries Cinéma en Construction São Paulo – Toulouse

From 9 to 11 July 2025, the pioneering post-production programme accompanying Latin American films will be travelling to Brazil for a session of 6 films in work in progress, as part of the São Paulo Audiovisual Hub – Mostra Paulo Gustavo.

For the first time, Cinéma en Construction will be focused entirely on a specific cinematography, the upcoming Brazilian cinema.

The selection committee in Toulouse will be looking out for the narratives of our time brought to the screen by filmmakers who express their singularity through their vision, poetry, authenticity, emotion and imagination, building complex and diversified worlds that are bound to surprise and delight us.

Since Cinéma en Construction was founded in 2002, 244 films have been screened over 44 sessions to a dedicated and enthusiastic professional audience. Many of these films have been selected for prestigious international festivals including Cannes, Berlin, Venice, San Sebastián, Sundance, Locarno, Rotterdam and Toronto.

Now more than ever, Cinéma en Construction is committed to the values of solidarity and the founding challenges of this key meeting point with Latin American filmmakers and emerging talents bringing new perspectives.

From July 3 to 13 the São Paulo Audiovisual Hub – Mostra Paulo Gustavo over the course of 10 days, will host meetings with professionals from over 12 countries.

This event will be a hub of ideas and innovation dedicated to strengthening and internationalizing the audiovisual sector in São Paulo.

The programme includes workshops, debates, round-tables, master classes, screenings and one-to-one meetings. Activities aimed at encouraging professional development and market opportunities. Film screenings of Brazilian restored films and new projects supported by the Paulo Gustavo Law will complete the activities.

The access is free and open to the public, with special focus on the audiovisual industry professionals. To attend, a previous registration will be required.

Cinéma en Construction São Paulo - Toulouse applications

The Cinéma en Construction São Paulo – Toulouse session is intended exclusively for producers of feature films in post-production stage.
This program is recommended to projects seeking feedback from professionals with extensive experience in the international market, and interested in enhancing commercialization opportunities in Brazil and other territories.
Advanced proficiency in English is mandatory, as the workshop will be conducted in that language.
Six (06) slots are available for this edition.

Requirements for project submission:

  • The feature films must be produced by Brazilian companies. Co-oproductions are allowed, as long Brazil must be the main producing country
  • The call for projects is only open to fiction, hybrid and animation films
  • Projects must be in the post-production stage (at least first cut)
  • The final length of the film must be greater than or equal to 60 minutes
  • The version submitted to the call for entries must be subtitled in English
  • The committee will only accept links for downloading
  • The form must be filled in English
  • The submission is free
  • The deadline for entries is from 07 May 2025 at 18:59 (Brazilian time) until 28 May 2025
  • Submissions sent after the deadline or containing incomplete, illegible and/or missing information will not be considered.

If the project will be selected:

  • All the selected projects must include the Cinéma en Construction São Paulo – Toulouse logo in the credits and in all promotional material
  • The cut to be presented will be subtitled in English
  • The screening format will be: DCP and 5.1 sound, as well as an mp4 back-up copy
