Pancho is a land-owner busy putting up fences and inventing new ways of exterminating hateful carps from his artificial lagoon. Stubborn in such effort, he doesn’t hesitate to go to extreme levels, risking the life of Pedro, his indigenous employee. Family and friends are amused by Pancho’s eccentricity; Mane, one of his daughters, seems to be the only one able to perceive the tension building up with the nearby Mapuche community.
Pancho es un latifundista bastante ocupado en poner cercos e inventar métodos para exterminar unas odiosas carpas de su laguna artificial. Testarudo en dicho afán, no duda en usar métodos extremos, arriesgando la vida de Pedro, su empleado indígena. Familia y amigos se divierten con las excentricidades del Pancho; Mane, una de sus hijas, parece ser la única que percibe la tensión creciente con la comunidad mapuche cercana.

Nancy (54) receives an offer from a TV show about unsolved mysteries to be a part of the episode that will tell the story of her daughter: a young lesbian who was beaten to death, and after eight years no one has been declared guilty. This woman faces her family and the different versions of each others while she decides if shewill be or not a part of the programme and while she starts knowing more about who her daughter was.

Nancy enfrenta a su familia y las versiones que cada uno tiene de lo sucedido, mientras decide si participar del espacio y reencontrarse con quien fue su hija.
Un programme de TV sur les mystères non élucidés propose à Nancy (54 ans) de participer à l’émission consacrée à l’histoire de sa fille, jeune lesbienne frappée à mort. Un crime toujours sans coupable huit ans après les faits. Nancy doit alors faire face à sa famille et aux versions de chacun sur l’évènement tout en décidant si elle prendra part à l’émission ou non et si elle en saura plus
sur qui était sa fille.

Gloria is 58 and lonely. In Valparaíso’s prison, inmates’ human rights are violated on a daily basis. A cultural program allows a group of inmates to go back home through virtual reality experiences. Ariel (20) has a terminally ill mother, Cueto (45) dreams of seeing his nieces again, Mr Claudio (54) is an outsider who misses the sea and Franco (26) is desperate to finish his sentence and reunite with his son. They live different experiences and are helped by the others who create the best environment possible, a contrast to the abuse of the prison guards, which they learn to cope with together. Their last VR experience is collective, they all virtually attend Franco's wedding after he finishes his sentence. They moved around like they were dancing, contrasting with the cold walls of the prison surrounding them.
Mariana (40) is married to Pedro (45), a workoholic economist. She lacks selfconfidence, always treated like a child by her father and then by her husband. Mariana belongs to a sexist and violent society where Chilean bourgeois women are reduced to the task of raising children and tolerating their husbands. Mariana stars taking horse riding lessons and develops an awkward connection with Juan (70) a former colonel, who becomes her instructor, mentor and accomplice. He enables her to recover her sensuality and the confidence she lacked. One day a journalist appears, searching for the colonel in order to talk to him about the time he was the head of a torture center where hundreds of people died during the Pinochet dictatorship. Mariana’s husband immediately asks her to stop the lessons but she refuses and decides to stay close to the colonel until he goes to prison for life. Smalltalk is a film about a woman, a silent victim of violence, who must learn how to assume it in order to overcome it. The film shows us what it means to live in a hostile and oppressive environment usually disguised as acceptance and comfort, not easy to abandon, since the price of emotional freedom can be so high that it might be unattainable.
